Icon of Saint Nicholas the Wonderworker, made after a pattern reproduced by icon writers for centuries. The icon is gilded with two kinds of gold. The halo is made on a chalk-and-glue gesso ground that I carved by hand.
how it was made
The veneration of Saint Nicholas is very widespread, not only in Orthodoxy but also in Western Europe and the Balkans. Nicholas was Bishop of Myra in the 4th century AD.
The face of St Nicholas is always marked by an expression of concentration. He is seen as the caring protector of the land of Rus' and its people. Currently available for sale.
